Monosyllabic answers are another way to say you're either bored, or are boring, dumb or both.
• Listen.
The one thing men love to whether intentionally or not is talk about themselves. This is important especially if you are looking for a boyfriend. You can tell a lot from the way a guys talks, what he says and the way he says it. So listen. Check out his body language while you're at it. Fake interest if you have to. By showing interest in what he does or says, feeds his ego and making him subconsciously look for or want the attention so all the more he would want you.
